Welcome to the 17th South Carolina Infantry. We are happy that you decided to
visit us. If you are interested in Civil War reenacting, you have come to the right place! We have much to offer

ARMY- composed of several corps, commanded by a General CORPS- composed of three divisions,
commanded by a General DIVISION- composed of three to four brigades, commanded by a General BRIGADE- composed of four
to six regiments, commanded by a General REGIMENT- composed of ten companies, commanded by a Colonel COMPANY- 100 officers
and men, commanded by a Captain.

"North & South went to war because they represented two distinct and irreconcilable
cultures....The North deployed its industrial might and numerical superiority to grind down the South. It was a cultural war
in which Yankees imposed their imperialist and capitalist will on the agrarian South just as the English had done to the Irish
and the Scots- and as America did to the Indians and the Mexicans in name of Manifest Destiny."
